Disclaimer: AboutCeylon Sri Lanka Travel Guide

Last updated: November 3, 2026

Welcome to AboutCeylon.com. We’re a Sri Lanka travel information site, and we write for international travellers (students on a budget included) who want to explore the island’s destinations, culture, history, wildlife and transport. This page explains what you can and can’t rely on here. It takes two minutes to read, and by using the site you’re agreeing to it.

1. What our content is (and isn’t)

Everything on AboutCeylon is published in good faith, for general information. We try hard to make it useful, but we can’t promise it’s complete, accurate or always available. If you act on something you read here, that’s your call and your risk.

2. Travel details change fast

Our articles cover things like:

  • Attractions and destinations across Sri Lanka
  • Itineraries and holiday planning
  • Hotels, guesthouses and restaurants
  • Transport options and costs
  • National parks and wildlife experiences
  • Cultural and historical sites
  • Weather and the best time to visit
  • Visa rules and practical visitor info

Prices, entrance fees, opening hours, bus and train timetables, room rates, visa requirements and local rules can all change without warning. We do our best to keep pages current, but we can’t guarantee every detail matches today’s reality. Before you book or set off, check the important stuff with official authorities and the providers themselves.

3. We’re not professional advisors

Think of us as a well-travelled friend, not a lawyer or doctor. Nothing here counts as legal or immigration advice, medical advice, financial or investment advice, official government travel advice, or professional safety guidance. When it matters, speak to a qualified professional or the relevant authority.

4. Your safety is your responsibility

Travel carries risk, and you make the final decisions about your own safety. Before you head to Sri Lanka, we suggest you:

  • Check current travel advisories
  • Confirm your passport and visa requirements
  • Get proper travel insurance
  • Follow local laws and regulations
  • Check weather and road conditions
  • Listen to safety instructions at attractions and national parks
  • Choose reputable transport and accommodation providers
  • Take sensible precautions for outdoor activities

AboutCeylon isn’t responsible for accidents, injuries, illness, travel disruptions, losses or damages that come from travel activities or from decisions based on our content. The one exception is where the law doesn’t allow us to exclude liability.

5. Links to other websites

Some pages link to outside sites for extra information, bookings, transport or accommodation. We don’t own or control those sites, so we can’t vouch for their accuracy, availability, content, products, services or privacy practices. Clicking through is your choice, and it’s worth reading their terms and privacy policies first.

6. Advertising

We may show ads through third-party networks, including Google AdSense. These ads can be selected or delivered using cookies and similar tracking tools. An ad on our site doesn’t mean we endorse, recommend or guarantee what it promotes. Advertisers answer for their own products, claims and business practices, so do your own homework before buying anything.

7. Affiliate disclosure

Some articles and pages contain affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, booking or other qualifying transaction, we may earn a commission, and it costs you nothing extra. These links can relate to:

  • Hotels and accommodation
  • Travel booking platforms
  • Tours and experiences
  • Transport services
  • Travel-related products

We write the same useful content whether or not an affiliate link is involved. The commissions help us keep AboutCeylon running and growing. Still, check the terms, prices and conditions of any provider before you commit.

8. Opinions and personal experiences

Some of our content includes opinions, recommendations and general observations about destinations. Your own trip may turn out differently, depending on your preferences, the weather, the season, your budget, availability and plain luck. Our recommendations aren’t a guarantee of any particular experience.

9. Images and media

We use photos, illustrations and other media for informational, educational or illustrative purposes. Some images show a destination or experience in general terms and may not reflect what it looks like today. We try to respect copyright and licensing requirements. If you think we’ve used an image incorrectly or that it infringes your rights, get in touch and we’ll look into it.

10. Errors and omissions

We work to keep our information useful and accurate, but we can’t promise the site will always be free of mistakes, outdated details or gaps. We may update, correct, change or remove content at any time without notice.

11. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, AboutCeylon, its owners, contributors and representatives aren’t liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or other damages arising from:

  • Using information published on our website
  • Errors or omissions in our content
  • Travel decisions based on our recommendations
  • Third-party products, services or bookings
  • Content or activities on external websites
  • Changes in travel conditions, prices or regulations
  • Website interruptions or technical problems

Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes or limits liability where the law prohibits that.

12. Changes to this Disclaimer

We may update this page whenever our website, content, advertising arrangements or legal requirements change. Any updates will appear here with a new “Last updated” date, so it’s worth checking back now and then.
